The St. Patricks Day SCHOR race of 2012 will long be remember as one of the wettest race days in SCHOR history. Our race host Dan Cronin was as prepard as any good race host could be for the stormy weather, but the wind and rain was determined and we battled mother nature all day long. In spite of the weather challenges we had a great turn-out which produced some great (slightly wet) HO racing.
As usual, the first race of the day was Rookie (okay Amateur) Hard body. The race was completely dominated by the Escondido boys on there "home court". John Cronin led Carson Cowan and Johnny Shirk to sweep the podium for the local CFR crew.
Next up was Pro Hardbody, which saw a super-close battle between Ben Vasquez and Dan. When it was all over Ben edged out Dan's Tomy G+ car by two laps with his well prepard Tyco 440-X2. This was the first of four trips to the podium for Ben. Amateur Super Stock was up next and John Cronin continued his domination with a big win over Johnny Shirk and Austin Cowan making it a second CFR Amateur podium sweep.
Pro Super Stock. Mark MacVittie is the man behind those amazing MRT Super Stock armatures and he obviously had a good one in his car, cause he SMOKED the field and left no prisoners.
Pro Modified was an extremely fast race that was closer than the box score showed. Dan "The Ace" Cronin won with a sweetly prepard G3 Bonded Polymer car. A bit of turn-marshall carnage near the races end robbed the crowd of what was looking to be a race to the wire with Morgan's very fast Hybrid Modified car.Another great time on another great SCHOR track. We all look forward to returning to Dan's place soon, and next time there will be Sunshine.
